2, 2006 - Where Is Monica Stevens?
Independent Modeling staff model Monica Stevens, who helmed the often-controversial
Independent Modeling Mail Bag from 2002 to 2004, has signed on to develop
and head up a brand new monthly mail bag column for ally site Tampa
Bay Modeling. Monica will continue to contribute to Independent Modeling
on a normal basis, but her new position over at Tampa Bay Modeling will take
up much of her time. We wish Monica well with her new job. Tampa Bay Modeling's
monthly mail bag for models and the Tampa Bay modeling industry is reportedly
on course for an April 2006 launch, with archived Independent Modeling mail
bag content released to Tampa Bay Modeling for editing and re-publishing as
needed. Although we are allies with regional model resource site Tampa Bay
Modeling, which is based in Clearwater Beach, Independent Modeling and Tampa
Bay Modeling are not directly affiliated and are not the same company (sorry
conspiracy-theory guys. We inspired their creation but we are different companies,
just like Independent Modeling and ally site Florida Models are different
companies).
In related news, Independent Modeling has sold most of our scam fighting tools to Tampa Bay Modeling, and have licensed our ASA scam fighting tools for the site to use. There is a lot going on over there right now, and Monica Stevens is now assisting them. Their new model scam fighting database will be an improved next-generation descendant of our old model scam definition database. There are rumors that Tampa Bay Modeling is gearing up to fight model scams using advanced versions of tools that we originally developed, which is fine since Independent Modeling is no longer in the scam fighting business and we no longer use many of those tools (in 2004, Independent Modeling was the top model scam fighting site in the United States, appearing at the top of most search results for model scams. In 2007, we project that Tampa Bay Modeling will be in that position, with even more effective tools than we had. We can only speculate on what the effect will be of "Tampa Bay" being associated with top model scam search results, but frankly, this market is still in rough shape and really needs the help).
