There is no arguing against common-sense and proven business practices. Modern professional models think for themselves, network, and book work both as independent models and by using agencies as one of many sources of jobs. This is the future of the modeling industry. Tuesday, July 4, 2006 - Independence Day
Today is Independence Day. The staff of Independent Modeling and a select group of professional models will be celebrating our independence from model agencies and the constraints of the old modeling industry today. This is our independence day, and we assert our freedom as freelance, independent professionals. We have an advantage over models who are blindly led by model agencies and who work under the limitations of only having one source of jobs.
As of today, Independent Modeling has completely emerged from its shakedown, passing the one-year mark since our new Athena Class site came online, which ported content from earlier versions of this site. We have opened the news archives, which contain notes from and for our web team. It is possible to see the planning, the time, and plans for the future from these notes.
We will complete support file upgrades to the site this week, and then will bring our featured model section and job board up to speed in a matter of days. Expect new content to be added this month. Major work will be done to Independent Acting next week, and Independent Performer after that. TALON, of course, will undergo constant updates, with work increasing on the database in August to take up half of our allotted schedule until we bring it up to satisfactory levels. The site is now on a six month ramp-up to increase traffic and reader participation, with our next operational goal to be reached in February 2007.
