Independent Modeling is a resource site for independent and agency-represented models who wish to enhance the marketability of their modeling careers, as well as have an advantage over limited models; those limited models being agency-only models who do not think for themselves, do not invest in their career, and allow modeling agencies to manage them, and to tell them what to do. Other limited models include models who try to put together competent professional modeling portfolios for free, using TFP, and who try to compete against professional models with cheap career tools. The independent models who use Independent Modeling are smart, professional models who know enough that to have an advantage over other models, that they have to invest in their careers. Independent Modeling is NOT a modeling and talent agency, and we do not claim to be. We do not directly refer models into modeling jobs for financial compensation, and do not represent models. Independent Modeling is not intended to be used for any advice, which includes legal advice, and any advice which can only be legally given by a licensed professional in a regulated profession. TALON Upgrade.

After a night of heated debate between site director C. A. Passinault, some models, and Shane, the format for the TALON Database has been upgraded. We will now add a reference history to each profile with links to the party/ contact who made the reference, along with the exact statement made by them (this was Shane's idea, and it was a good one). References will not be adjusted unless the source can be verified, and if the source can be disproved or their identity questioned at any time, their reference and the impact to the rating will be adjusted. Anonymous posts will not be allowed, and any statements made by a party will quote their opinion or fact (we do not recommend posting allegations unless you have proof to back up those statements; anything potentially or obviously libelous will not be posted, and the attached reference will not weigh into their rating if it is not posted), and we will be waived from any potential liability. If the TALON system or one of our administrators makes an adjustment, we will give a good reason in the TALON notes, and will link to relevant sources (such as message board statements made by the contact or E-Mails forwarded to us) in the reference history column.
Most TALON contacts will start out with no rating (although we DO have our opinions, which we will keep to ourselves for the most part unless they are excellent) , although we will make a few exceptions for professionals who we know well and can vouch for (Hey, you have to be able to set some goal for others to shoot for), and most of those will be given five star rankings by default. We will encourage everyone to have others send in references so they can boost their ratings.
As was the policy before, we will not recognize anyone who is not professional, whether it be because of a lack of qualifications, licenses, misrepresentation, unethical conduct, or any unprofessional behavior at all. If we think that they are not good for the industry, we simply will not recognize them and will exclude them from the database. Also, we reserve the right to deny, omit, suspend, or remove contacts at any time and without any given reason. In some cases, there may be no wrongdoing on the part of the contact, but we may determine that they simply are inappropriate in some way for inclusion in the database; for example, an adult entertainment company may certainly be a legitimate and professional organization, but it would not be appropriate or a “right fit” for our database, simply because they operate in an incompatible industry.
This will add professional accountability and credibility to the database reference rating system, and will take the edge off of some of the controversy. People won’t discover their contact information listed with two or a three star rating without any idea of why their rating is like that while others are shining with four and five star ratings, and it will be less likely that they will perceive the database as some sort of attack against them or some way of making them appear to be less desirable professionals than others in the database. They will simply be in control of working toward getting their rating where they believe it should be by getting other professionals to send in references. Parties sending in references will be verified and added to the database automatically so their reference can weigh in to the rating system for that contact.
For now, our team is going over the format once again, adding these new upgrades while continuing to polish it. We’ve nailed this system, and can actually have our cake and eat it, too, for once. TALON remains compelling, it retains all of it’s new features, and we found a better way to make it work.
Work on "the sewer" is continuing, too. This “list all” database will work on a level below TALON and will be PHP based so users can directly create and maintain their listings. The categories will automatically link to the relevant TALON categories.
We hope that everyone is happy now as work on the database continues.
