Q. What if a highly rated model or actor flakes out and costs someone money? I'd hate to be you!
A.
It's their issue. We are not responsible for what others do. We are also
not liable. It is up to people to follow through on their commitments and
to conduct themselves as professionals. It is also the responsibility of the
booking company to screen their talent before they book them, as it does not
take any more effort that booking a model referred from an agency. They wouldn't
have anyone to blame but themselves, really, as our sites will provide them
with the tools free of charge which will help them to reduce the risk of booking
talent without going through an agency. There are never any guarantees, even
if an agency refers them. Just like talent who are represented by an agency
may not be 100% reliable or professional, there are no guarantees expressed
or implied that talent with a high TALON rating are any more professional
than someone with a lower rating. The rating merely reflects what we know
and observe, and a higher rating may indicate reduced risk. We are not responsible
for what others do.
That said, we do have an issue with talent making professionals who book work
without an agency look bad. It undermines the independent talent movement.
If a company gets burned by someone who they book from seeing them on our
web sites, we sure hope that they let us know so we can have certain TALON
Ratings adjusted. Accountability is the name of the game, and while it translates
to credibility, unfortunately it can never be a guarantee.
This is one reason that we will be going out of our way to teach businesses
how to screen professionals in the audition and booking process. With a little
foresight and attention to detail, everyone will accept that the agency way
is not the only way, and everyone, with the notable exception of most agencies,
wins.
